Felix Voltsinger is a member of PAPNM who lives in Pecos, New Mexico.  Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Felix began studying painting and drawing at age eight at a regional art school.  At age twelve he entered the high school of the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, continuing his studies and graduating with honors in 1971.  He went on to earn a Master’s degree from the Academy in Painting, Drawing, and Art Restoration in 1978.  After graduating, he worked at both the Russian Museum and the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg before emigrating to the United States in 1982.  He had his own art restoration studio in New York for fourteen years before moving the mountains of Colorado to paint western landscapes.  In 2008 Felix moved to New Mexico to teach painting and drawing at the Santa Fe Community College.

Felix loves nature and being outside, and delights in taking extended camping trips to work in remote locations.  While he often creates pieces in one session, he also returns to the same place at the same time of day to continue to develop a piece.  He uses his sketches, memory, and imagination to create larger works in the studio; an excellent draftsman, he never works from photographs.  Whether at the easel, by the campfire, or sitting on the riverbank with a cup of tea, he constantly strives to be a better observer, opening himself of the richness and complexity of nature and deepening his understanding of the world around him.
